On the evening of December 31st, 2019 Master Patrol Officer Spencer Bristol, of the Hendersonville Police Department, was killed in the line of duty.

Bristol worked for four years with the Hendersonville Police Department, according to Police Chief Mickey Miller. Recently, Bristol was promoted to master patrol officer moved back to patrol. Before that, he served with the department’s flex team division.
“Spencer Bristol was an example of what an officer should be. He loved his job and the police department grieves with his family over the loss of our brother,” said Miller, in a statement read at Monday’s news conference.
Bristol, who started working with the department in September 2015, was the first Hendersonville police officer killed in the line of duty in nearly 20 years.
Bristol, who also served in the U.S. Navy, was a husband and a dad. He is survived by his wife, Lauren, and their 3-year-old daughter.
